Hey Lexus, you remember this?
Drop the entire drivetrain into this:
Bam, instant LS-F! S65/RS7/hypothetical M7/Rapide/etc competitor! I’d buy two.

I love you.

put the V-10 in that

But they’d make the engine “quiet” and “elegant” because it’s a luxury car of course.

Nice try.
You’re still getting a ride in neither of my LS-F’s bruh.

Yamaha V10 in everything, because Yamaha V10.

But does Lexus own the rights to the engine or is it all Yamaha?

Toyota owns most of Yamaha.

I forgot about that. Idk!

Or how about putting one in one of these, but make it a dually and pour on the torque.

That would be a nice way to recoup their cost on the LFA’s development.

Is the S65/RS7/760/Rapide quiet? Honest question.

this next?

5% is a majority?

I can’t speak to most of those, as I haven’t driven them. The previous-gen 760LI I drove was insanely quiet. It just made a little hum as you accelerated. That could just be down to BMW not really wanting to put much effort into the V12 at that point, though.
I have driven an S6 extensively, though, and it’s also very quiet for a V8. Granted, two turbos tend to mute the exhaust sound a bit, but it doesn’t sound any more impressive than a Tahoe.

I can’t talk about an RS-7 but my S600 is pretty quiet on the inside anyways and the last time I rode in a 760 I remember it being quiet. I've never even seen a Rapide.

I guess the Rapide HAS to be quiet haha.

Not enough torque. Detune it a little and slap on a turbo, then you’re golden.

I think they should put the TRD supercharged version of the 5.7 in the LS. More power and much more torque.

That does sound like a pretty smart idea. And perhaps a Hino developed diesel option as well?

Better idea: Since you wasted all that money engineering the damn thing, and since you still put it in your commercials.....
Maybe just... you know... make more of them.

I want to make an old Lexus into a track car.
![]() 07/11/2015 at 22:06 |

Nah. That engine doesn’t have enough torque for an LS F.
The RC F V8 and two turbos however...

You can still buy new ones

I was unaware of this. Also, I thought they were all destined to be leased for two years to “suitable candidates” so that they would be driven and not kept as garage queens.

I believe that dealership owners bought them with the intention of flipping them and using them to attract customers, but I have literally no proof so who knows
